Missing an Appointment
Whilst we try our hardest to ensure everyone gets an appointment at the Surgery as soon as possible, we need help to keep the appointment system running smoothly.
Ways to you can help us keep our Surgery running smoothly:
- Please arrive on time (if you are more than ten minutes late the doctor may not see you)
- Please let us know if you cannot keep your appointment
- Please do not “squeeze in” other people or multiple ailments in your slot
- Please remember that the length of appointments are limited and that other people are waiting too!
Cancelling an Appointment
If for any reason you are unable to attend it is important that you inform the reception staff. You can do this by simply by replying to your appointment text message with the word ‘Cancel’, by telephoning the surgery or by using online means to cancel.
If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter or message informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment.
Persistent defaulters may be removed from our patient list.
Missed Appointments
Missed appointments have a massive impact on the service we are able to provide our patients, not only does it mean that other patients that are sick, potentially miss out on appointments that could help alleviate their symptoms, it has a large impact on the Surgery financially, with each GP Appointment costing the Surgery approximately £36. This in turn takes away money from the surgery that could be spent on further improving our service to you
Just to put this into context, it meant that last month the Surgery lost over £3300. This money could have been used to pay another member of staff to help enhance our service to you.
