RECORDING OF ALL TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS
With the introduction of GDPR from 25.5.2018 we are reminding all our patients that all telephone calls in and out of the practice are recorded for monitoring purposes.
Welcome to New Members of the Practice Team.
We have 2 new members of staff starting at Almond Road. A New Female Doctor (GP Partner) & a new Female Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
From 9.7.2018 our full time Advance Nurse Practitioner will start, she can see almost everything that a Doctor can see so we hope are patients will take full advantage of this new service to the practice.
From 3.9.2018 our New GP Partners, Dr Chomicka will be starting with us. Some of you will know here already from Locums sessions that she has been working with us over the last few months.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - FEB 2018
Patient list full - currently unable to accept new patients
Almond Road Surgery is currently unable to register new patients as our patient list is currently full. There are two exceptions to this. Firstly, a new baby born to the household of a current patient. Secondly, patients who are resident at The Marbrook Centre, Milton Park Hospital or Elysium (St Neots Hospital). Please ask at reception for further information.
The practice regrets that it has had to take this action and acknowledges that it may cause some inconvenience to would-be patients.
The reason that our patient list is full is that the practice is short of a GP following the retirement of Dr Taylor. We are amongst many GP Practices with open vacancies and difficulty in recruiting. We do have locum Advanced Nurse Practitioners starting with us from April to August 2018. These Advanced Nurse Practioners can see most things that a GP would normally deal with, so this will be a great help to the practice whilst still actively trying to recruit a new Doctor. However, despite extensive efforts, this does not help cover our GP Vacancy, and due to the national shortage of GPs, we have not been able to recruit GPs to cover the Retired GPs’ workload.
The Practice is therefore continuing to take steps to ensure that it can maintain safe levels of staffing to meet patient needs, and to maintain the health and well-being of the remaining doctors.
These measures include:
- Temporary closure of the practice to new patients (other than those mentioned above )
- Looking at alternatives to Doctors as in Advanced Nurse Practitioners
- Recruitment of additional clinical staff to support the existing Doctors
We do not know how long it will to take to recruit a new GP, therefore we cannot say at the moment when we may be able to open our list again.
Your support and understanding during this difficult time is appreciated.

A FACEBOOK REVIEW OF OUR SURGERY
"This Surgery is very Patient orientated. Sit and Wait can sometimes take a while but you are guaranteed to be seen and if you are really ill you will be seen quickly. You will never be told to ring back in 3 weeks as is the case with one Surgery! The Receptionists are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The on-line service is very useful!"
